Notice from the President of the District Court regarding the criminal lists in Tallaght District Court, Blanchardstown District Court (Courts 1 & 2), Swords District Court, Balbriggan District Court and Dun Laoghaire District Court from Monday 8th June, 2020
With effect from Monday 8th June, 2020, the criminal court lists scheduled for:
Blanchardstown District Court (Courts 1 & 2) will be listed in Blanchardstown Courthouse
Tallaght District Court will be listed in Tallaght Courthouse
Dun Laoghaire District Court will be listed in Dun Laoghaire Courthouse
Swords District Court will be listed in Swords Courthouse
Balbriggan District Court will be listed in Balbriggan Courthouse
Criminal Matters
Persons on bail should not attend and their cases will be remanded in their absence. Accused persons will be informed of the new court date by their solicitor or by the Courts Service, if they do not have a solicitor.
New charge sheets, return for trials and custody cases will continue to be called individually in court and all other cases will be block remanded or adjourned and the date announced in Court.
The following matters will be dealt with - Attendance for Service of Books of Evidence and sending forward for trial on indictment; matters for sentencing where a guilty plea is indicated; the hearing of cases where an accused person is in custody on the charges before the court; resuming and concluding part-heard cases; prosecutions for alleged breaches of Domestic Violence Orders which have occurred during the emergency period; and hearing cases where there are garda witnesses only.
Civil Matters (Dun Laoghaire District Court and Swords District Court)
All District Court Civil matters are at present considered to be non-urgent and will be adjourned generally with liberty to re-enter either on consent or on notice to the other party.
Family Law Matters (Swords District Court)
Matters to be listed are new applications for protection orders or interim barring orders and return hearings of interim barring order cases. If safety order hearings are being adjourned, interim protection orders will be extended to the new date.
Applications and hearings for breach of maintenance or access that have occurred during the emergency period or applications and hearings for temporary guardianship orders.
General
Consent orders that do not require the hearing of evidence may be applied for by email by the applicant’s solicitor to the appropriate Court Office exhibiting consent in writing from the respondent’s solicitor. Following consideration by an assigned Judge orders will issue from the Court Office as appropriate without the need for the parties or their legal representatives to attend court.
